Mission & Vision

Go therefore and make disciples...

The Mission

We exist to love God and to love others. We passionately seek to save the lost and mature those being saved to become more like Christ our Savior.
For the past several years, a central theme at University has been and continues to be, “a place to call home.” Faith, family and friendships are key components that make University a Home. Acceptance, encouragement and unity are what you can expect within our church family. We seek to accomplish our mission within this community of faith be focusing on four goals that make University a place to call HOME.

Honor God (Matthew 4:10; 1 Corinthians 10:31)
We seek to honor God in all we do. Doing His Will is our greatest desire. We strive to honor God through our weekly times of worship and Bible study. We strive to honor God through distinctive daily living characterized by holiness. In our families, on the job, or at play, we seek  to honor God by honoring others. We strive to honor God by becoming more like Jesus and making our lives to be a reflection of Him.

Outreach To The Community (Matthew 28:19,20; Galatians 6:10)
It is God’s desire that all people know Him. It is the responsibility of every Christian to share the Good News of Jesus with those whom God brings us into contact. University strives to minister to the Shreveport/Bossier City communities and surrounding area by demonstrating God’s love to others by meeting physical and spiritual needs.

Mature The Church (Ephesians 4:11,12; Hebrews 6:1-3)
Every Christian should be growing more like Jesus. Because University wants you to grow in your walk with God, Bible classes are offered for all ages to encourage every member to be a student of God’s Word. Worship is full of songs of praise, prayers, and relevant sermons from the Bible to glorify God and minister to the every day needs of those who participate. All believers are called to be ministers, using their God-given gifts to build up the Body. Our strategy is to help members discover, develop and use their spiritual gifts for God’s glory.

Encourage The Family (Hebrews 3:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:11)
You will find a friendly, loving and spiritual family at University. Members and visitors alike enjoy coming together for worship, Bible study, or times of fellowship. We like being together! This healthy atmosphere does not just magically happen though. It is very intentional. Several things are happening every week to insure that our church family is encouraged spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically. Much like the early church we devote ourselves to God’s Word and to one another. Needs are met and gifts are used for God’s glory so the body of Christ is built-up.
